BILL PINKNEY & The Original Drifters at the Red Rose Festival Sept. 25th 2020

We will have a booth at this event with information on the Hall of Fame and opportunities to donate to help keep South Carolina's Entertainment in the hearts and minds of every one that visits.

South Carolina Entertainment and Music Hall of Fame Inductee BILL PINKNEY & The Original Drifters at the Red Rose Festival.

From The Original Drifters:
The best act of its genre on the music scene today...”, the Bill Pinkney legacy group still reflects the entire Legendary Drifters presence in the music industry and weaves a blend of nostalgic magic with on-stage excitement. With today’s informed music lovers rejecting generic imitations, the group remains in demand.

Music’s Drifters represent more than the story of a single group’s success. Changes in personnel and management have led over the years to the sprouting of many Drifters permutations, but BILL PINKNEY used the name / mark THE ORIGINAL DRIFTERS® since the 1950s, and his legacy continues.

Organizer Clyde McPhatter (Mount Lebanon Gospel Singers), BILL PINKNEY (The Southern Knights), and Gerhardt and Andrew Thrasher (The Thrasher Wonders) met while singing gospel in 1949. When Atlantic Records rejected McPhatter’s first group, these men joined forces, signed with the company, and established in 1953 the foundation upon which a music legacy was subsequently built. Thirty five years later in 1988, original members MCPHATTER, PINKNEY, GERHART THRASHER and four later Drifters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which filmed PINKNEY’s oral history for its Legends Series.

Music Icon BILL PINKNEY was a Negro Baseball League sandlot pitcher, a World War II Presidential Citation recipient with five Bronze Stars (including Normandy and Bastogne), a Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer, a member of the United Group Harmony Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Beach Music Hall of Fame, and Gospel Hall of Fame Stellar Award recipient.

South Carolina dedicated Bill Pinkney Highway, a state park at his Dalzell, Sumter County birthplace, bestowed the Order of the Palmetto, its highest civilian honor, and commissioned him the State’s “Ambassador of Music and Entertainment” for more than a decade and a half. Coastal Carolina University bestowed an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree upon Pinkney.

“Drifters 1: Bill Pinkney”, the autobiography, is available at
www.Drifters1.com.

We continue Icon BILL PINKNEY’s great legacy with dignity, pride, and respect. Visit www.OriginalDrifters.com, and we’ll see you soon!

The Talleys Farewell Tour! Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 6 PM

We will have a booth at this event with information on the Hall of Fame and opportunities to donate to help keep South Carolina's Entertainment in the hearts and minds of every one that visits.

The Talleys are one of Christian music's most beloved and respected families. 2020 will be there final year touring and the PAC in partnership with the SC Entertainment Hall of Fame invite you to join us in saying "Thank You!" for everything they have done! Join us on Saturday, November 21 at 6 PM! Tickets will sell fast, get your tickets before it's too late!

Their commitment to excellence and creativity in music have been their trademark since their illustrious career began, and their clear communication of the gospel is a defining characteristic of a Talley concert.

The Talleys began in 1984 and enjoyed many years of success, including a Dove Award and numerous Singing News Fan Awards. Following a three-year hiatus, the Talleys began performing together in 1996 with the current lineup of Roger, wife Debra and daughter Lauren, and today the Talleys remain a mainstay of Christian music.

The Talleys have enjoyed eleven number one songs, and have received numerous Singing News Fan Awards and Dove Award nominations. They are frequently recognized for their appearances on the Gaither Homecoming video series and concert tour, as well as In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley and John Hagee Ministries. They have appeared on RFD-TV's "The Music City Show," and have toured overseas to Norway, Northern Ireland, Italy and South Africa. The Talleys consistently take their music with a message to hundreds of concert and church audiences of all sizes across America each year.

"It's message music. When people hear our songs, we want them to clearly understand the gospel in the lyrics, and know that God really can make a difference in their lives," says Lauren. "Whether we're in front of thousands, or in the local church on a Sunday, that message is the same."

The Talleys are a self-described "normal family," but whether they grace a concert hall, a church platform or enjoy a ball game on TV at home, they are dedicated to God and family.

Labs for Dyslexia Documentary World Premiere! Nov. 23rd.

All pre-sale tickets receive a FREE $10 Yard House Restaurant gift card!

THANK YOU, Yard House Restaurant for Donating the $10 Gift cards for the Labs for Dyslexia Documentary World Premiere Event!

One out of every five children in the United States has dyslexia, and are not capable of learning inside the public education system. These are smart kids, talented kids, and they possess a whole set of abilities that non-dyslexics don’t have, but they are being left behind and made to feel inferior because the public education system only supports the 80% of non-dyslexics in their student population.

Parents with kids who have dyslexia feel frustrated that their child is being left behind and that their pleas for help go unanswered. They go to extraordinary measures to get their child the help they need, but too often those measures are out of reach for many families.

That’s why, three years ago, the founders of Lakes and Bridges established the first public charter school in South Carolina (and one of only 4 in the nation) designed to meet the needs of children with dyslexia and give hope to families who were desperate to give their children the education they deserve.

We want to explore the issue of educating dyslexics in America, and show that there is an alternative. We’ve partnered with Lakes and Bridges to use their success in educating children with dyslexia as a case study to prove that these kids are smart, they are capable, and that there is a way to educate them and prepare them for success.

We aim to challenge the public education system to do better when it comes to serving the needs of all children, not just those without dyslexia. We aim to give hope to families affected by dyslexia, and show them there are alternatives. Through our documentary we hope to inspire other teachers to replicate the success of Lakes and Bridges, either inside the public school system, or by creating charter schools across the nation to address this serious failing by the public education system.

Nov. 23rd.
